Are there any effective home remedies for acne? Well the answer to that is a resounding "YES!"
Probably the least thought of, but the most effective home remedy for acne is a good diet. What exactly is a good diet?
A good diet to promote healthy skin (and overall good health) consists of fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and lean meats. You'll notice this list does not include any junk food. You'd be surprised at how quickly junk food ends up as acne on your face!
You also want to make sure you're drinking at least eight 8 ounce glasses of pure water every day. This will do wonders for your skin.
Now, what you have your diet handled, you can move on to some external home remedies.
First of all, make sure you're keeping your skin clean by washing it once in the morning and once in the evening with a gentle soap and a clean soft washcloth. Be extra careful around irritated areas.
If you're active, be sure to wash your face after any physical activity that causes you to sweat. Dirt can get trapped in the perspiration, so you want to get that off your face and shoulders as quickly as possible.
Another way to open up your pores and deep clean your skin is with a light steam treatment. Just heat up some water on the stove, and once you notice it's putting off steam, remove it from the heat and hold your face over the pot. Be sure to keep your face far enough away from the hot water that you don't accidentally burn or irritate your skin.
After just a few minutes, your pores will be wide open. Gently wash her face with mild soap, finishing up with a cool water rinse to close the pores again.
One spot emergency treatment for acne is applying a small amount of toothpaste to the affected area and leaving it on overnight. Don't try this with gel toothpaste, only the cream type seems to work.
One last tip, keep your hands away from your face as much as possible. Your fingertips can transfer oil and dirt to your clean face very easily, so remember to keep them away!
